"Locked In"

MORTEN X David Guetta - Locked In.jpg

REVIEW by TYLER CONWAY

JAN 9, 2026

Standout producers MORTEN and David Guetta team up yet again on their new record “Locked In.” MORTEN and Guetta have famously collaborated on several massive songs dating back to 2019, including “Never Be Alone,” “Dreams,” and “Kill Me Slow.” Their new single “Locked In” is the latest iteration of the style of music MORTEN and Guetta have coined as “Future Rave,” a genre distinguished by its avant-garde chord progressions and melodies. The duo’s history of working together seems apparent on this record, where both DJ’s unique styles symbiotically coexist as one coherent and fresh sound.

Lyrically, the song centers on variations of the phrase “I’m locked in,” a colloquialism for being in the zone and performing at a high level. I can confidently say MORTEN and Guetta were thoroughly locked in, in every sense of the phrase, when they got together in the studio to produce this track. The progressions, buildups, and beat drops on the record are some of the most rewarding of 2026 so far, which is what listeners have come to expect from the two legendary DJs. The song's lyrical simplicity provides the hard-hitting production with room to flourish, begetting a danceable track that will surely get spins at festivals and clubs everywhere. MORTEN and David Guetta deliver yet another masterful interpretation of their “Future Rave” sound on “Locked In.”

Sarah de Warren

"What U Like"

REVIEW by TYLER CONWAY

JAN 9, 2026

Sarah de Warren delivers a trance-like and dreamy new track with her record, “What U Like.” The song has a vibe befitting of a UFO careening through space at warp speed, passing by stars and solar systems to the tune of an electrified hum. The production is pulsating, reverberant, and heavy, accompanied by softly sung vocals that soothe the listener amidst the track’s hefty synth and bass backdrop. Lyrically, the song exudes a supreme sense of self-assurance and swagger, revolving around the repeated phrase, “I got what you like, what you need, what you want.” Sarah de Warren’s strong singing performance heightens the song’s essence of confidence even further, complementing the record’s tone with her breathy and echoing vocals.

From start to finish, “What U Like” delivers an exciting experience that successfully gets the listener’s blood pumping. The final buildup and beat drop are especially hard-hitting, culminating in a mix of bass and synths that sounds as if it were plucked from a high-speed chase scene out of an action film. “What U Like” has all the staple components of a techno house hit, from the fluttering synths to the intermittent dreamlike vocals, making it an ideal track for enticing the crowd in any festival or club environment.

"Three Words"

REVIEW by TYLER CONWAY

JAN 9, 2026

Manchester house duo Duke & Jones team up with vocalist India Shan on their new song “Three Words,” delivering a pulsating track that invites the listener to stop what they’re doing and start moving, whether they’re at home, in the car, or out on the dancefloor. Duke & Jones’ poppy production expertly complements India Shan’s warm, delicate vocals, highlighting the artists’ respective proficiency in music production, songwriting, and singing. Production-wise, the track is soft enough to prevent the song from being overstimulating, yet trippy and bouncy enough to make people want to keep dancing. Lyrically, the song captures the energy of a young person who embraces nightlife culture as a barrier against their everyday problems, which is an increasingly relatable subject in 2026.

The team of Duke & Jones and India Shan comes off as polished and refined, where no singular aspect of the song is outshone by any other. The track wastes little time picking up, quickly transferring from the opening verse, to the bridge, then finally to the chorus. “Three Words” maintains a fresh and inventive sound, all while benefiting from similar notes of hopefulness and youthful excitement as found in some of the smash club hits of the early-to-mid 2010s. To summarize the track using only three words, I’d call it lively, catchy, and uplifting.
